Through the Flemish Ardennes to Tiegemberg

The route takes you from Velzeke to Tiegemberg and back. We cycle to the Bergarbeiterweg in Roborst and ascend through Vissegem towards Kornelis Horebeke and Sint Maria Horebeke. Along the way, we catch a whiff of the atmosphere of the Ronde van Vlaanderen as we sway over the cobblestones of Haaghoek and Ruitersstraat or when we descend Leeberg, Wolvenberg, and a piece of Edelareberg!

Through Leupegem, we cycle towards the new bike path from Oudenaarde to Berchem (Kluisbergen) and pass by the feet of Koppenberg and Oude Kwaremont, which we happily leave to our left. But that is, of course, not strictly necessary!

In Berchem, we leave the bike path and head towards Tiegem, where we once again savor a little bit of the Ronde at Tiegemberg, which we climb this time.

Afterwards, we ride through the beautiful landscape of the Scheldt valley towards Wortegem Petegem, making a large detour around Oudenaarde, which we leave far to the right to take the bridge over the Scheldt only in Nederename. We return to Velzeke via Sint Maria Latem and Zwalm.

The route is particularly strenuous in the first half but remains pleasant and perfectly suitable for any leisure racing cyclist. Not recommended for large groups of bike tourists due to the narrow roads and bike paths.
