Krekelberg in Rijmenam: nature exploration

The Krekelberg is located between the Oude Booischotsebaan and the Oude Schrieksebaan in Rijmenam (Bonheiden).

Four years after the establishment of the new heathland area Krekelberg, the first beautiful results can be admired. During work in 2021, part of the monotonous coniferous plantation was cleared. Three years later, heath shrubs are blooming in this place, and noteworthy insects, plants, and birds have already been recorded. The Krekelberg has become more intriguing and varied. It is on its way to becoming one of the top nature areas in the region! (Joost Dewyspelaere, chairman of Natuurpunt Bonheiden in the GVA 22.8.24).
