Description by the author

If Bouillon is the pearl of the Semois , then this is a pearl of a walk to the pearl of the Semois...

The walk is designed in such a way that there is only 1 heavy climb : the one from Bouillon to the Belvédère. A less steep path has also been chosen here than the 'normal' steep road. By staying on top of the plateau between the Belvédère and the viewpoint " tombeau du géant" the altitude meters are 'limited'. Moreover, by starting here we can have a drink on a terrace in Bouillon about halfway through the walk ...

Start at the car park in Botassart with the beautiful view of the "tombeau du géant" ( see the attraction of how it appears out of the mist).

We descend to the Semois via Le Moulin du Rivage. We follow the riverbank and cross it via the "Passerelle du moulin de l'épine" , a suspension bridge that connects the walking areas of Bouillon with those of Corbion.

We follow the path close to the bank of the Semois. On the other side looms the abbey of Clairfontaine , a beautiful sight! If you want, you can now make a detour for a climb to the viewpoint " Rocher du pendu" ...

We now arrive at a campsite that we pass along the banks of the Semois. On the road we take the tunnel under the castle of Godfrey to visit Bouillon.

Almost halfway. Time for a drink on the terrace?

We walk past the church and some old fortifications and via the boulevard to the Pont de Cordemois.

Time for the climb to the belvedere . We do not choose the steep climb of the GR (for the enthusiasts: do what you can't help) but a less steep detour.

Climbing the belvedere is an effort that is worth it: a magnificent view over Bouillon is the reward!

We continue now and stay on the plateau for a while. A little further we descend to the valley of the Grand Ruisseau.

At a small bridge we start the climb to Botassart. Once at the road we can still go right to the domaine marial, or left to the brasserie (open in the weekend).

Be sure to check out the sights once you're there. They'll explain what there is to see .
