Description by the author

This trail loop of a half marathon long starts at the parking lot on the Schumanlaan over the Zenne in Weerde, and arrives on the other side of the Schumanlaan. You can easily reach your starting point via the very wide central reservation (stretch your legs over the guardrails).
(You can easily start in other places, but keep in mind the comments starting from the original starting position)

This loop is conceived as a real trail loop, and therefore with the intention of taking as little paved road, asphalt or concrete track as possible.

Even in this flat rural area you will have to climb and descend steeply twice to get via the railway line over the E19 or over the Leuvensevaart. Do this only AFTER THERE ARE NO TRAINS APPROACHING. THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
In both cases, there is enough space or a separate passage, but still be attentive.

In the winter period you will be able to trace your way on site fairly easily.
After the growth spurt in the spring, it is difficult to pass in some places due to thorns and nettle vegetation. So take appropriate clothing! The difficult zones after the spring spurt are immediately at the start on the Senne (nettles), after the first crossing of the Leuvensesteenweg (a special passage between the railway line 27b Weerde-Muizen, Weerde-Leuven and Mechelen-Leuven).
When returning after the second crossing over the Leuvensevaart, it can sometimes be difficult in the eastern part of the Bloso domain Hofstade.

The ultimate goal of this trail is to walk paved roads as hard as possible between the Senne basin and the Dijle basin south of Mechelen. This trail location is a very unique location with a lot of variety and immersion in the local nature.

Also note that on your return this trail follows an old Footpath no.22 and road no.4 which involves a 'gué' (ford) through the Barebeek. So do not do this trail after heavy rain because this passage may be too deep for some! In any case, your shoes will be soaking wet even in dry weather over the last 2 km!

Do you like variety: this trail offers it to you on a plate!
