The Fairy Valley of Achouffe.

This walk of 5.9 kilometers starts at the Achouffe brewery - where the beer La Chouffe is brewed - in Houffalize, the town of the Nutons. Do you know the legend yet?

According to the legend, small Ardennes dwarfs lived in a cave (the Trou des Nutons, Route de La Roche in Houffalize). They dug a tunnel to the chapel Notre-Dame de Fôret, between Taverneux and Sommerain.

At night, they repaired the shoes of the residents of Houffalize. And so, Houffalize quickly became known as the town of the Nutons. In 1807, two draft dodgers sought refuge in the cave of the Nutons. They were shoemakers. At night, the townspeople left their broken shoes and some food at the entrance of the cave. The next day, they found their shoes repaired.
