Rupert lost his heart to Brazil after his immersion trip there. He was 16 years old at the time and deeply affected by the injustice and living conditions of young people living in the Favella (the large dump in Rio).

The encounter with the Brazilian youth and the collaboration with them as part of Youca (then still Zuiddag) sparked an incredible drive in Rupert, and he was determined to help his friends.

Unfortunately, a traffic accident abruptly ended this. Rupert died when he was 17 years old. In order to never forget Rupert's dream and commitment, the Brazilian youth decided to develop a project in his name aimed at maximizing support for local youth in the fight for human rights and a dignified existence. YOUCA BRASIL became a reality, and their meeting place was named ESPACO RUPERT.

The non-profit association Rupert writes a Rainbow wants to fully support this initiative by financing their activities.
