The arboretum was founded in 1902 on property belonging to King Leopold II and later transferred to the state. Today, it is a landscape park of 120 hectares with an impressive collection of trees, or rather forest types, from Europe, America, and Asia. This diversity guarantees a wide palette of autumn colors. There are several marked walks, including those through the American, Asian, or Mediterranean forest types.
