The route includes a small loop centered around the Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal. The walk passes by the beautiful casino of Gompel. The casino is protected due to its historical, socio-cultural, architectural, and industrial value.

The Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal is a 15.7 km long canal in Belgium. It connects the canal junction point in Dessel with the Albert Canal in Kwaadmechelen (municipality of Ham). It is one of the seven Kempian canals between the Meuse and the Scheldt. It flows through four municipalities: Dessel, Mol, Balen, and Ham.

The route also runs along muddy paths by the banks of the Molse Nete.
