The sisters Harlindis and Relindis built a wooden church here as early as the eighth century. Just a few steps away lies Wijndomein Aldeneyck. The varied landscape along the Maas connects the historic cores of this picturesque village and Maaseik. Around the Herenlaak Lake, you can stroll peacefully along the water. You pass the popular pilgrimage site Heppeneert, where Mary is venerated in the St. Gertrude Church."
