KEH - Dombergheide - Ravels Kamp - Klotteraard - Black Water - Hoogmoerheide - Koeiven

A beautiful walk for the sturdy stepper who wants to explore the Turnhout Vennen area with its amazing diversity in one day.
This walk takes you past grasslands with meadow birds, a piece of canal, heath, and brooms (April-May), Ravels Kamp with its sand dunes, and then along forests and fens. These fens form a natural water buffer and provide cooling.
Possible picnic/rest places are Camping de Baalse Hei, the lookout tower at Kleine Klotteraard, the viewpoint at Zwart Water, and the resting bench in Hoogmoerheide.
For those who set aside one day for this nature area, it is THE walk to recommend.

A must for meadow bird lovers: during the breeding season, you can observe the godwit, curlew, and lapwing, which come here in large numbers to breed.
Additionally, you will also find permanent buzzards and herons. Spoonbills also love this area, and storks are known to linger here to rest.

That may make up some % of all the birds that reside here... and then there are also the roe deer that have seen you from afar.

Only the first stretch of 500 m requires some caution, as it runs alongside the bike path along the main road. A more pleasant alternative is still being developed.
