Thorpark is an area of 10 km² behind the former Waterschei mine. The area has so many qualities that it will connect with the National Park. Here you will find everything that the Hoge Kempen has to offer: mining stone hills amidst heather and pine forests, a beautiful brook valley, junipers, and inland dunes. Some notable buildings enhance the landscape: the children's colony of As and the coal mine of Waterschei (Thor Central). You can already walk extensively here, but there is (yet) no gateway in the known recipe of the other gates.
