The Itterbeek originates on the eastern side of the Kempens Plateau in Gruitrode. The first tributary of the Itterbeek is the Baatsbeek. This stream springs in the center of Neerglabbeek.
The nature association Limburgs Landschap vzw manages a large area of valuable meadows, spring forests, and swamp forests here.
