Dune belt - yellow - 14.6 km

The Commanderij Gruitrode was until 1801 one of the twelve commanderies of the Teutonic Order that were subordinate to the land commander of Alden Biesen. The Commanderij consisted of a castle separated by moats and a square farm.
Currently, the Commanderij Gruitrode is being gradually restored to become a hotspot for culture and events. In addition, the site will serve as a gateway to the Dune Belt, helping visitors navigate this northern part of the Hoge Kempen National Park.
The Oudsberg is a sandy hill that rises 30 to 40 meters above the Kempen Plateau and is managed by the Agency for Nature and Forest. To reach the top, you need to climb a bit, but it is more than worth the effort. At the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Dune Belt. If you look south, you will see, across the Bosbeek Valley, the southern part of the Hoge Kempen National Park.
