Dauteweyers - orange - 10.2 km

This walking area in the southernmost part of the Wijers guides you through a diverse variety of landscapes around Diepenbeek. The entire area is incredibly rich in water. There are several ponds with wetland zones. Around these ponds are alder swamp forests and moist meadows. Together, this forms the ideal habitat for the rare tree frog that feels at home here.
Winding through the area are the Demer, the Kaatsbeek, the Stiemerbeek, and the Laak. Be sure to enjoy Dorpsbemden, with its flower-rich grasslands.
Demerstrand in Diepenbeek is not just for athletes: you can play tennis, soccer, jog, skate, and much more; there is also a playground that is entirely focused on water! Around the playground, you can relax and picnic on the grass or at one of the picnic tables. In the birth forest just over the Demer, children can play in the play forest. And 'last but not least': there is a cozy cafeteria at the start of the walks!
