The Romans left their mark not only on the city center of Tongeren. Even in the surrounding area, you can still find evidence in the landscape from the Roman period. A seemingly natural ridge (the Beukenberg), which you walk over, is a monumental earthen structure that was part of the aqueduct that supplied the Roman city of Tongeren with water. You pass a Roman burial mound and remaining pieces of the city walls from the 2nd century. Furthermore, the estate of Betho is on the agenda, and you walk through characteristic, Haspengouw landscapes with rolling fields, meadows, orchards, and sunken roads.
