Sahara - orange - 5.7 km

Whoever comes walking here feels as if they are in the desert... The Sahara was rightfully chosen in 2018 as the most beautiful walk in the country! The large, bright blue water pool emerges like a mirage in the sandy plain. The fresh water attracts plenty of waterfowl.
The surrounding coniferous forests and several architectural highlights in the area make this a very special walk. Be sure to climb the unique lookout tower for a stunning view over National Park Bosland. There is a mysterious play forest with natural play elements made of willow branches by artist Will Beckers for children.
Our tips:
Bring a picnic and have lunch at the playful picnic tables. Zeno Sand Beetle takes the children on an exploration in the sand!
Between March 15 and October 15, you can borrow a free hammock at the reception of event hall De Soeverein: hang it on a tree and just relax!
Tip with children! Search for the treasure of King Lion; this trail is freely accessible. You can choose between a short walk of 3.5 km suitable for strollers or the longer adventure walk of 7.8 km. The treasure hunt starts at the gravel parking lot Lossingsweg (by the canal). More information about King Lion can be found on the website of www.visitlommel.be.
