Spread out in the valley of the Kelsbeek are the forest and the castle of Nieuwenhoven. Walk in the shade of imposing beeches, oaks, and chestnut trees competing for dominance over the forest. Here you will find sand, clay, and loam in the soil. The result is a colorful palette of plants: from exuberant spring bloomers to rare mosses and a vibrant mix of mushrooms.
