Blankaart walking route extra viewpoints and tower

This beautiful area has also been discovered by the Sea Eagle, which for the second year in a row is raising two young.

The Blankaart is home not only to a birdwatching hut but also to an actual birdwatching tower. This allows you to observe the wide variety of bird species in this area undisturbed from a height.

Traditionally, the water-rich area of the Blankaart attracts large concentrations of waterfowl. The low-lying meadows and hayfields form the backdrop against which the walking route is located. You start at the Blankaart Castle and walk through a series of meadows that are part of the nature reserve De Blankaart. Then you walk for a long time through the "winter bed of the IJzer" to the water reservoir of De Blankaart. On the way back, you walk through the district of De Rhille and past the eponymous BLOSO center.

Did you know: The Blankaart is a nature reserve south of the IJzerbroeken. It mainly consists of marshy meadows and hayfields along the IJzer.
Caution: In the winter months, the walking route is often difficult to access due to the marshy ground.

This walking route is integrated as a suggestion loop in the walking network map De Blankaart. No separate pamphlet with a map will be published for the walking route, but the signage will remain.
