The gravel route Pajottegem in a nutshell

1. Starting Points

   The route starts at the Koornmolen sports center in Gooik.

2. Parking

   There is ample free parking at the sports center (Processiestraat 15 in Gooik).

3. Facilities

   Toilets and showers are available at the Koornmolen sports center. However, check in advance if you can use the showers: 054 59 77 70. There is also a wash station to clean your bike.

   Food and Drink: Recharge at the market square in Galmaarden, take a breather in the Woodcafé atop Bosberg, or enjoy a terrace at Paddenbroek Rural Center: there is no shortage of nice dining spots in Pajottenland.

4. Highlights

   Nature:

   • Dender-Mark Quiet Area
   • Nature area Kesterheide and the Lombergbos in Gooik

   Sporty:

   • Climb the iconic Bosberg in Galmaarden.
   • At the top of the steep Noremansberg (on the southern flank of the Bosberg), a magnificent view awaits.
   • Conquer the 1.2 km long Congoberg.
   • Feel like Remco Evenepoel on certain stretches (R.EV 1703 cycling route).
   • Dare to tackle the technical climb at Kesterheide, where perhaps not everyone will make it to the top riding.
   • Still enjoy the cobbled and gravel stretches around Gooik.
   • Extras:
     • Take a selfie with Urbanus in Tollembeek.
     • Spot the remarkable Miners' Station in Galmaarden.
     • Make sure you don’t get nailed to the ardoise pillory in Vollezele.
     • Cycle past one of the largest NATO communication centers in Europe, recognizable by the four distinctive balloons.
     • Be awed by the impressive view over Brussels after climbing to Perivio and the Iron Man. At 112 meters, this is the highest point in Pajottenland.

   The signposted mountain bike routes from Sport Vlaanderen form the basis of this route. They have been enhanced with some beautiful gravel sections and extra attractions.

   This results in a wonderful journey of discovery through Pajottenland, seasoned with plenty of elevation, challenging climbs, and technical challenges.
