The gravel route Diepenbeek in a nutshell

1. Starting points

   The route starts at the sports and recreation area Demerstrand (Stationsstraat 27, Diepenbeek).

   You can also start at the sports hall De Weyer in Kortessem (Oud Mersenhoven 2), but then you miss the access route from Diepenbeek.

2. Parking

   The parking at Demerstrand is spacious and completely free. You can also take the train to the starting point: the NMBS station of Diepenbeek is nearby.

3. Facilities

   Toilets and showers can be found in the sports hall at Demerstrand. Check at the reception before your ride if you can shower afterwards.

   Catering: There is a cafeteria with a nice sun terrace, 'Knooppunt 100', at the sports center. Just a stone's throw away you will also find the market square of Diepenbeek, with many catering establishments.

4. Highlights

   Nature: In the open landscape with beautiful views, between meadows and orchards, you experience Haspengouw at its purest. However, you will also find some green oases along your route, such as the Bellevuebos and the Jongenbos.

   Sports: After your journey over the slopes and gravel strips of Haspengouw, do you need an extra challenge? Then dare to try the Biketrail in Diepenbeek, preferably with your mountain bike. A perfect way to finish for the adventurous biker looking to sharpen their riding skills.
   Extras: Regularly, majestic castles and majestic square farmhouses appear among the orchards. Because of this unique combination of heritage and nature, the region was awarded the title 'Landscape Park Heart of Haspengouw' in 2023.

   The route connects the connection path Genk-Hasselt with the blue mountain bike route of Kortessem (since the recent merger a district of Hasselt).

   This connection path links the mountain biking networks of Middle Limburg and Euregio, resulting in hundreds of kilometers of mountain bike and gravel fun.
