Description
The horse and carriage route of Sint-Gillis-Waas takes you through the flat Waasland landscape. You can choose from four loops that fit perfectly together and that you can combine at will.
The blue loop starts at LRV Sint-Egidius on the Houtvoort site (Houtvoortstraat 24, 9170 Sint-Gillis-Waas). This outdoor site, close to the center of the municipality, is not only home to various sports and youth associations, but also offers a versatile range of play and recreational opportunities. The long Egidius route (14.8 km) goes clockwise. You follow the Hoge Watergang towards Vrasene along wonderfully quiet paths. Then you dive into the challenging tracks of the open plains via some quiet polder roads. A few streets lead you to the edge next to the old railway bed, the F411, where you are surrounded by many cyclists and walkers on the adjacent path, before returning to LRV Sint-Egidius.
