Through fond des vaulx to Marche-enFamenne

By starting in Verdenne, we can take the time to make a leisurely stop halfway through the walk in March-en-famenne.
For those who don't mind a stopover, it's better to start in Marche-en-Famenne: the access through the tunnel to the Fond des Vaulx valley will seem like a revelation!

The Fond des Vaulx valley is a remarkable area and the entire walk offers a great deal of variety in terms of landscape: we walk both in the valley and at the top, through forests and in open countryside.

Start at the spacious parking lot behind the cemetery (drive uphill).

Verdenne suffered greatly during the Battle of the Bulge , as evidenced by the numerous information boards. We walk through the fields and arrive at a residential area just outside Marche. Along the edge, we arrive at the actual Fond des Vaulx nature reserve.

The "Trotti aux Fosses" cave is the first cavern in the rocks we encounter. Soon after, we encounter La Doline and La Cheminée. Here, we are at the top of a steep 20-meter drop.

We continue walking past the picnic area with barbecue to the exit of the valley via the tunnel.

We take a detour to the Place aux foires ...

We return through the tunnel and past the caving clubhouse. A little further on, we leave the valley. Passing a remarkable cross and the GR trail through the fields, we return to Verdenne, where several more information panels await us.
