Geraardsbergen: Through Raspaillebos, over The Wall and along green country paths

A sporty and nature-rich loop from De Bosberg, through the fairytale-like Raspaillebos and over the legendary Muur van Geraardsbergen. Let the cobblestones and the forest enchant you!
You can park at the nearby Woodcafé.
Stops for snacks and drinks:
- Brasserie Woodcafé (near the start and finish point)
- Taverne Oudenberghof (about halfway)

This walking route combines the best of the region. You start at the foot (or top) of the iconic Bosberg, known as one of the toughest climbs in the Flemish cycling classics.

Before long, you dive into the serene atmosphere of the Raspaillebos, a remnant of the historic Kolenwoud. Enjoy the rolling landscape, the ancient trees, and, depending on the season, a carpet of wild hyacinths or wild garlic. The forest is a recognized quiet area, where the peaceful sounds of nature prevail.

After the forest, the route takes you over quiet, green country roads through the charming border region of the Flemish Ardennes and Pajottenland. These rural sections offer beautiful, expansive views over the rolling fields and meadows.

The highlight of the loop is the passage at the Muur van Geraardsbergen (the Oudenberg). Feel the history beneath your feet as you walk along the famous cobblestones and the Chapel Wall. From the top, you are rewarded with a splendid panorama of Geraardsbergen and the surrounding area, before returning via a pleasant finale to the starting point at De Bosberg.

This is a solid walk with the necessary elevation, perfect for the experienced hiker who wants to enjoy nature, history, and a touch of cycling legend.
