Following in Damiaan's footsteps should be fine.

It's best to get up early for this walk. This way, you'll easily find parking at the Damiaan Museum and enjoy the morning calm, with a chance to spot deer, birds of prey, and geese flying overhead.

From the Damiaan Museum, the route is clearly marked (don’t confuse it with the Scherpenheuvel walk of 40 km, which we do in the spring).

EXTRA LOOP: After about 350 meters, you can take an extra loop to the right towards Het Zegbroek. This extends the hike by 2.2 km and takes you through swampy forest and over boardwalks towards the Dijle. At the river, turn left to the Damiaan Bridge, where you rejoin the main route.

Follow the clear signs and walk along peaceful paths through the valleys of the Dijle and the Grote Laak. Via the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw church in Tremelo, you will follow low-traffic roads to Werchter. Postpone your well-deserved break until you reach the Jack-Op: this way, you support our good cause and can let us know what you thought of the walk. The last 2.2 km, you will again follow the towpath and enjoy the views and the babbling Dijle until you reach the parking lot of the Damiaan Museum.
