Along country lanes and chapels to Zoerselbos

A walk of about 13 km, of which 8 km (!) along unpaved paths.

You start from the P+R parking lot near exit 21 Zoersel on the E-34.

When you leave the parking lot, you go to the right and about 50 meters further you will find the sign to junction 43. From here, you will walk along narrow country roads past meadows, rows of trees, and farms.

After about 3 km, you will see a Maria chapel called 'Chapel near the airport'. This airport, which you can't see, was a reserve airfield for NATO between 1952 and 1955. The devout farmer, who owned the field, wanted to have a Maria chapel here.

Continuing further along country roads, you will enter a forest where numerous rhododendrons grow. After another kilometer, you will reach the least pleasant part of the trip: an asphalt road that leads you to the center of Zoersel. Unfortunately, but what do you expect in this densely built Flanders? Here, however, you have a bay with a picnic area at the St. Anthony's chapel. At the intersection of Salphensebaan and Graffendonk, you must turn right. When you cross Oostmallebaan, you should go right, but a visit to the Lindepaviljoen is worthwhile (open from April to the end of September). Further along church paths to the park of Zoersel, where there is a statue of Marcel Kiekeboe. Further still a few church paths that eventually lead you to Zoersel Forest. This forest is known for the numerous mushrooms you can find here. After a few kilometers in the forest, you will return to the P+R parking lot.
