This challenging hiking route of 7.9 kilometers takes you through a varied landscape where nature and history come together. You start at junction 745 and walk along the towpath by the Demer, where you can hear the soothing sound of the water and the view of the Our Lady Church of Aarschot captivates your gaze. Next, you discover the Weerderlaak, a medieval drainage ditch that now provides a home to various flora and fauna. The impressive giant hogweed introduces you to the local flora, although it is not originally from here. As you continue through the 'Achter Schoonhoven' forest, you pass by old hay meadows and more recent poplar forests. This route not only offers a physical challenge but also an opportunity to enjoy the peace and beauty of the nature around you.
