#260102a - Gottechain wood of Linsmeau - 5 km

This is the shortened version of a very beautiful walk (#s260102b) with little difficulty except for a narrow, bumpy, downhill path at the beginning. The trail runs alongside small wooded areas to end up at the Lambais stream, which we only cross. We traverse a large hollow passing near Stampia, a hamlet in Grez-Doiceau. We then ascend to the foot of the promontory on which the village of Gottechain stands: a magnificent view of the hillside. We cross wooded areas alternating with meadows before entering the woods via the path that marks the border between the Bois de Linsmeau (on the left) and the Bois de Beausart (on the right). We pass at the foot of the Linsmeau farm, a strange building enclosed in the middle of the woods. We then pass near the Beausart castle (on the right). We return to the large open plateau, with a 360° view, including to the east, the control tower of the Beauvechain airfield. We descend back into the village via the beautiful path that traverses the Bois de Linsmeau. There are beautiful old houses in the village.
