This 140-kilometer-long motorcycle loop immerses you in the raw heart of the Ardennes, where gold veins, grinding stones, and slates shape the landscape and history. Departing from the region of Vielsalm, you first discover the world of coticule: in the quarries and the Musée du Coticule, you see how this yellowish grinding stone, rich in garnet crystals, has evolved over centuries into a globally sought-after whetstone. After that, you follow the traces of other rock craftsmanship, with the slate quarries of Cahay and the impressive underground mining complex of the Schieferstollen in Recht, where blue slate embodies the industrial heritage of the Eastern Cantons.

Along the way, you pass spectacular rock formations like the Rocher de Warche and the devil's stone near Stavelot, where hard quartzites enforce steep walls and deep valleys. The route also weaves water into the story: at springs like Pouhon du Ry and the source of Bru, you read how mineral-rich groundwater wells up from deep geological layers, while the waterfalls of Coo show how rivers carve their way through stubborn rocks.
