Description by the author

Via forest paths and slow field paths to the plateau of Overijse and back with beautiful views.

The Saint Michael's Church and “Tommy”.

At the start of the hike, you stand at the Saint Michael's Church of Terlanen (PHOTO 1A) dating back to 1834. A sober brick neoclassical building. The confessionals and pulpit still date from 1838. Next to the church, in the cemetery, lie British soldiers who fell. These graves are of English soldiers who occupied the anti-aircraft positions during the May days of 1940. This cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The statue of Tommy, a British soldier who ended up in Terlanen during WWII, “guards” this site. You go down and pass the inn 't Klein Verzet, after which you cross Abtstraat.

Watermill.

A little further at a bridge on your right side, you notice the beautiful photogenic watermill at Laan is KNPT 310. Here you go straight for another 400 m.

State Forest

At a T-junction, you leave the road and turn left into (KNPT 263) first on cobblestones and then on forest road. Along the way, you come across an information board about this state forest, and between KNPT 255 and 256 you walk over a picturesque little bridge over the Laan.

Vossekouter

At the intersection with Leuvensestraat, you continue straight to Vossekouter and follow the road via KNPT 256 -257 to KNPT 258.

Varrendel

At KNPT 258, you turn left and follow a very beautiful slow field road, the Varrendel, with a forest on your right side and a picturesque hilly field on your left. You then come out at KNPT 259, where you turn left towards KNPT 312 -38 -309 -308.

Slow road Borrendelle

Before you reach KNPT 308, you turn left at a curve at a barrier on a steep forest path signposted slow road Borredelle. You come out at the top in a small villa neighborhood, which you immediately follow to the right onto Katleendreef and Homeweg.

Moskesstraat

At the T-junction, you turn right onto Bollestraat until you reach Moskesstraat: “the wall of Overijse” which is climbed during the cycling classic the Brabantse Pijl and is already infamous among many cycling tourists. You descend this until you follow a small narrow path to the right at the first houses for about 300 meters.

Hof van Eten Picking Paradise

At the Trapkes, go left up and there you enter Hof van Eten on your right via two small staircases. Almost 1 hectare large with a variety of plants, grapevines, fruit trees… Also a place where you can picnic. Through a gate made of a greenhouse frame, you come back on your right side to the starting point of this walk at the church.
