In 1899, the famous poet discovered the Caillou-qui-Bique. Enchanted by this place, he would return for 15 years. Several love poems refer to the little house at Caillou. It was only 4 days before the armistice of 1918 that a fire left only the walls of the country home he occupied with his wife. It would take more than 10 years for the project to reconstruct the poet's house to come to fruition. A museum space now occupies the "Verhaeren house".
On the route, numerous quotes from the poet are engraved on stones, the Caillou qui Bique (rock), and the bust of Emile Verhaeren.
