Highlights to look out for

The Avenue Network & Blaasveld Castle Estate
Walking along the impressive, perfectly straight lime-tree avenue with its monumental entrance gate, you’ll feel transported back in time. The castle is surrounded by a system of moats and historic avenues. Close to the former estate, you’ll also find the Sint-Franciscuskapel and an impressive chestnut tree over 300 years old.

The iconic Vredesbrug
Along the route, you’ll discover a rich variety of heritage sites, from the late-classical Kasteel Bel Air to the iconic Vredesbrug.

Water-rich nature at Hazewinkel & Broek De Naeyer
Towards the end of the route, the landscape transforms into a water-rich natural paradise. The highlight is the 2-kilometre-long Hazewinkel Olympic rowing course, created through historical sand extraction. Here, elite sport and nature meet: keep an eye out for graceful common terns plunging into the water to catch fish, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the bird-rich Groendomein Broek De Naeyer.
