This cycling loop takes you on a journey through the country of Ambiorix and Mergelland. You go to Tongeren, the oldest city in Belgium. Traces of the Roman presence are still visible everywhere in Tongeren, together they form the largest contiguous archaeological complex in the Netherlands. The surroundings of Riemst and Kanne, the Mergelland, owe their name to the soft white and yellow limestone that rises to the surface. The combination with the square hooves and hills creates an exceptional landscape. SIGNAGE The different crossroads are numbered and clearly visible on blue rectangular panels. Signs indicate bike paths in two directions. This way, you move from one node to another via a simple system. NATURE OF THE ROUTE You drive in a quiet and rural setting. The landscape is sloping and the road is about half car-free.
