Welcome to Limburg, the greenest province of Flanders. And in the Hoge Kempen National Park, the only National Park in Flanders. This green lung of 5700 hectares extends in the heart of Limburg. A valuable and surprising area that you should definitely discover. In 2006, this unique nature reserve was officially opened. The Agency for Nature and Forest manages the area. With its coniferous forests, ponds, heathlands, land dunes and rare plants, it is a paradise for animals, nature lovers, hikers, horse riders and ... cyclists. This cycling loop guides you through the natural beauty. Along the way, you'll also enjoy the mining past and plenty of attractions for the whole family. This route takes you through the Limburg municipalities of As, Genk, Zutendaal and Maasmechelen. Not only nature plays a leading role in the region of the Hoge Kempen National Park. The industrial mining heritage, the melting pot of cultures, the multicultural gastronomy and the modern design in architecture and art also provide a unique experience. SIGNAGE The different junctions are numbered and clearly visible on blue rectangular signs. The signs signpost the cycling routes in two directions. In this way you cycle from node to node via a simple system. NATURE OF THE ROAD You drive through a quiet, green, wooded area. The route is flat and 75% car-free.
