The Land Eole

Eole is the Greek god of the winds. Perwez is also firmly anchored in the legend of the winds as it has pioneered the appreciation of renewable wind energy. In 2010, 9 giant wind turbines majestically dominate the rural landscape between Perwez and the E411 motorway. Soon, 5 new wind turbines will complement the park. The 8 km long walk mainly follows the former railway track of SNCB No. 147, which has become RAVeL (Réseau Autonome des Voies Lentes). It also crosses a new path created in 2006 thanks to the PICVert project (Projet d’Itinéraires Communaux Verts), which is part of a slow way established between Thorembais-Saint-Trond and Grand-Leez (municipality of Gembloux).

“The Land of Eole” is one of the 7 tourist routes of the “Rando Perwez” project, a citizen initiative that provides hikers with a coherent set of high-quality hiking trails that run through the existing network of green paths in Perwez (path, ways, and RAVeL-147).
