Haspengouw is the fruit region of Belgium. In the undulating landscape, millions of apples, pears, cherries, strawberries and berries grow every year. Discover the most beautiful fruity spots in a décor that fascinates all year round. From the sea of blossoms in spring to the picking-free fruits at harvest time to the tangible silence in winter. You just get the legendary Limburg hospitality on top of it. This route starts in Alden Biesen, the largest castle complex between Loire and Rhine. From the impressive Landcommanderij you cycle to Bilzen center and Diepenbeek. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful nature and the large farms. In the Keizelstraat, on the edge of Humid-Haspengouw, lies the standard orchard Den Boden. Here the National Orchard Foundation grows 2500 species and varieties. Enjoy the beautiful view of the valley of the Mombeek. Via Kortessem and some picturesque villages you reach the center of Hoeselt. Between the orchards you cycle back to your starting point. SIGNAGE The different junctions are numbered and clearly visible on blue rectangular signs. The signs signpost the cycling routes in two directions. In this way you cycle from node to node via a simple system. NATURE OF THE ROAD You drive through a rolling landscape and about 25% of the cycle paths are car-free.
