Description by the author

This walk takes you to the idyllic seaside resort of Chiny, near Florenville on the banks of the Semois River. The start of the tour is located at the campsite "La Foulerie" on the bridge "Pont Saint-Nicolas" where you can also park easily. Please note that if you are doing this trip in summer, it can be very busy!
The starting point is also a "seaside resort" where you can swim in the Semois or from where you can take a jaw trip along the Semois, which, together with the very sunny lawn, makes it a pleasant place to stay. In summer, the cafeteria is also open for a drink.

The tour starts east along the Semois where we follow the local road number 32 which is indicated by a blue right triangle. In two places, you can shorten the route (which we strongly discourage!), These shortcuts are indicated with the same signs but with a lying H.
The first part runs along the Semois where we quickly reach the hydroelectric plant of the Vierre reservoir, and produces about 8 million kWh of energy. Just after the power plant, we take the ascending path to the main lane on the left, be careful when crossing.
The path then descends and you quickly arrive at the reservoir of the Vierre, the second largest dam in Belgium and the artificial lake of the Vierre which with its 35ha is considerably large. We take the left path along the lake at the jump and follow it until it comes back a little more like a normal river. Along the way along the lake you will also see several beautiful waterfalls. The next part of the route is then back on the left via a smaller path through the forest to the big track you have to cross, again be careful. The path then descends back to Chiny and ends up on the other large track that we descended to the starting point. In the last hairpin bend before the bridge, we take the slightly uphill right path that takes us over the Semois where we try to connect again to the path of the GR16 road that brings us back to the beginning of the tour.
