VKSL has been out again. This time we left in the cozy buffet of Lier station. Usually the thirst is quenched after the effort but we started immediately, just to not fall dry on the way.

It was raining at the time we were in the buffet and it looked like it was going to be a wet walk but on departure it was suddenly dry and we were spared from falling rainwater during the entire walk.

From the station we walked to the Lierse vesten, a remnant of the former city walls. To follow the towpath along the 'Netekanaal' along a short stretch of 'Kleine Nete' and a crossing via the railway bridge. Unfortunately, we went directly to the canal and therefore missed a view of the castle 'Heidebloem'.

After following the canal for about 1.5 km we left it to follow the 'Kleine Nete' to 'Taverne De Beemden' where a place was reserved for us. After the beers (again) the tour continued through the beautiful provincial green domain 'Kesselse Heide' to the fort of 'Kessel'. When crossing the parking lot of 'Taverne De Beemden' we were treated to a natural spectacle, a swarm of bees had left the hive and was busy nesting in a tree just above the leo's car. The thought of a nice fries lured us to the chip shop 'Pat@je', after which we went with our acquired treasure to the café 'Torenven' on the other side to put ourselves behind a fresh pint.
