Footpath 45 Hofstade

This footpath 45 at Hofstade (the "Broekweg") was effectively 3.45 km long. The longest neighborhood road in Hofstade -borough Zemst-!

It left in the vicinity of the Schiplakenkasteel in Elewijt (in the northeast extension of the current Viulladreef), and then ran northwards - along the current Milleneum pond - and then through the large excavated lake - for the railway line 26b around 1907 - of the current BLOSO domain. There she ended in a T on the neighborhood road 5 (Heybaan), which passed in the middle of the large pond.
A 350m more west of this T (just northwest of the sailing club) there was a T back on this Heybaan, where this footpath 45 left back north. The footpath 45 cut off the nose of the 2nd large pond, and continued in a straight line on the north side by the railway line 27b in the current Vinkenstraat.

At the end of the Vinkenstraat you crossed the Ambroossteenweg, and armed with good pants you could swim the Barebeek - in the deepest 1.5m with nettles and deep mud - and follow the small Barebeek.

On July 18, 2015, 'the old footpath bridge' (which gets the name of the street in front - the "Vinke" bridge - over the Barebeek will be inaugurated again, making this longest neighborhood road from Hofstade an ideal way to walk / cycle to Mechelen.

As you can see on the map, this footpath is no longer accessible everywhere (intersecting major roads, BLOSO pond, railway line 27b, a private house with property, and in the beginning even a large forest along the excavated Milleneum pond.

Strictly speaking, in the south the "Broekweg" does not start at the footpath 27 (currently called the Beukenlei) between the Kampenhoutsebaan and the Schiplakenkasteel. She suddenly stopped horizontally east of the intersection of the Villadreef-Kampenhoutsebaan, and bent towards the Kampenhoutsebaan.
ON the military staff this "Broekweg" is as a 'chemin' extended to the footpath 27 (currently called Beukenlei) to the Schiplakenkasteel

In the north, the footpath 45 "Broekweg" together with the bend in the Kleine Bartebeek also took a bend to the east, after which it ended in the street, near the old 16th century farm (with a 'recent' chapel) towards the Leuvensevaart.

The GPX of this old atlas road does not serve to follow it integrally, but to follow it as well as possible, taking into account the current feasible passages.
Attention: Swimming through the large pond of the BLOSO domain (the drowned part) swimming is prohibited. You can take the western path of this pond there.
