This junction route goes from Tienen to Tongeren, the important Roman city. The route mostly follows the old Roman army road.

You start at the Begijnhof Church just outside the center of Tienen. Using the bike junctions, you ride to Tongeren, the city from our Gallo-Roman past. You won't be cycling through Flanders-Brabant for long, but what makes the bike tour really exciting is that you follow an old Roman army road for the most part. This way, you instantly get an idea of the distances the Roman soldiers had to cover on foot to defend their empire.

At the beginning of the ride, you follow the Grote Gete a bit to immerse into Limburg via Landen. There you will quickly be on the Roman road. After a detour to Sint-Truiden, you reach the old army road again, this time to ride almost in a straight line to Tongeren. Before you enter Tongeren, you cross the Jeker. This river is essentially the main reason for the establishment of the old city.

Shortly before the endpoint, you reach the Grote Markt. There stands the famous statue of Ambiorix, the king of the Eburones. The endpoint of the route is a bit further down Maastrichter Street. If you turn the corner, you will also find the Gallo-Roman Museum.
