The current route crosses and crosses two large forest complexes, namely the Brakelbos and the Livierenbos. These forests have been the border between Flanders and Hainaut since the 11th century. The historical importance of these forests is even greater if we consider that they were an important factor in the formation of the language border much earlier. Finally, these forested hills were inhabited by groups of prehistoric peoples thousands of years ago. For these reasons and of course because of their current tourist appeal, this trail, which is much more than just forests, has been given the name "Tweebossenpad".
