The purple heart of Limburg: Ten Haagdoorn Heath and Teut (16 km)

In the heart of Limburg lie two state nature reserves that together form one of the largest heathland areas in Flanders: Ten Haagdoornheide and Teut. In autumn, the purple Erica blooms as far as the eye can see.
This 16 km hiking loop predominantly runs along unpaved paths and through extensive heathland and forests. At some points, it offers spectacular, un-Flemish views and panoramas.
You also pass through the forest that the Flemish government wants to clear for the company Essers.

• Starting point: it can be at various locations, but the visitor center of the Hengelhoef area is near the "Park Midden-Limburg" exit on the E314 and there is ample parking available.
• Dining options along the way: Hoeve Jan in Kelchterhoef is 1.5 km off the route, where you can eat and drink. The cafeteria at the Holsteenbron campsite also offers a cozy spot to eat and drink.
