This quiet walking / walking / cycling path along mainly low-traffic asphalt roads takes you past the Nayakker area where it is wonderful to stay. Quiet loop throughout the year, but especially in spring and autumn when the sun is shining but still does not have full power. For most of the loop you can then benefit from the sun's heat that warms the entire quiet loop from southeast to southwest kwasi.
The loop starts at the parking lot of the VK Weerde football field and takes you via some slow roads (Kleine Losweg, slow roads around relegem nursing home) and the beautiful pollard willows along the Singelweg to the Nayakker. There you pass Zemst-Laar and Zemst-Bos, and via a crossing at the Linterpoortenlaan you pass Eppegem via a field road with asphalt strip.
Twice a crossing has to be made over the Brusselsesteenweg, and at one of these the center of Zemst has to be cut.
The way back from the loop runs in Eppegem upstream along the Senne through Eppegem center, after which you have to go along the Brusselsesteenweg towards Elewijt. This detour also takes you past the southern slopes of the Senne and the Zennever discount, the Rubens Castle and the only remaining watermill along the Barebeek (the Steenmolen). The millwork is no longer visible, only the sandstone masonry along the closed Barebeek refers to the mill building of yesteryear. (During the construction of the E19, the Barebeekmeander to this Steenmolen and the Rubens Castle on the east side of the highway was shorted, so that currently the water in the closed meander and the water along the Rubens castle is fed by other surrounding streams.)
The loop is drawn along paved or paved paths, so that a stroller or other three/four-wheelers can find their liking perfectly. On the way you will also find the petting zoo het Gulderijtje and a stud farm along which many horses can be admired.
Also look at the POIs (-first maximize your browser, then click the Interactive map to enlarge / drag the map, then click on a POI in the map, then possibly enlarge the photo in the right column by clicking on it-).
Beautiful views over the fields as well as various chapels can be admired along this loop.
