Bike tour in the forest of Nassogne

15 km wooded mountain bike trail in Belgian Luxembourg with departure in Nassogne.

An autumn day. The dry air of August is carried away by the wet breezes that announce winter. This is the ideal season to discover the great forest of Nassogne.

In this mythical place, great inhabitants have disappeared. Consider that the bison was still alive 1000 years ago and crossed the forest in herds, like the bear. And the long winters saw packs of wolves roam the great massif. From the Château du Bois (former hunting lodge of the nephew of Napoleon III...) and just after exit 131, it goes up. It is a long climb, but at the top there is a fantastic and majestic beech forest.

We continue to pedal through the forest. We descend and we reach the beautiful stream of the Wassole which takes us to the edge of the forest. Here, a completely different landscape emerges that offers a huge panorama of the forest we have just left.

Route type: Main road and gravel road.

Type of bike: Trekking, with good tires or mountain bike.

Difficulty: 15 km for this short loop, but the difference in altitude is important. After the Huttes (see map) the road becomes stony. Be careful on the descent to exit 129.

Children: From 12 years old.

Departure: From the town hall (square), follow the main street towards Champlon. After 2 km you reach exit 131. After 200 m you enter the forest towards the Château du Bois.

Signage: Follow these junctions: 131, 130, 129, 128 and 132.

Parking: In front of the town hall.
