In the Land of the Valleys of fast water (variant Treignes)

The natural setting of the fast-flowing water valleys is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in Wallonia. The land consolidation roads and the RAVeL cross the peat bog depression, where beautiful villages are hidden here and there.

Welcome to the south, to Fagnolle, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia"... Here, the calcareous soil absorbs the heat of the sun. Along the road leading to Matagne-la-Grande, the lawns under the influence of the sun and heat are covered with a carpet of flowers, unique in Belgium.

A bend and the road climbs slightly to the Hurées Nature Reserve. We are here at the top of a yours, which gives us a great view.

The road follows the ridges and so we have a clear view. To the south we discover the valley of Viroin. There, a railway line with a tourist steam train is operated seasonally, during weekends. Shortly before Ossogne, a road leaves for Treignes, the starting point of these trains.

We continue our journey and head for Matagne-la-Petite, a peaceful village, far from any hustle and bustle. We return along the RAVeL 2 L156. As you approach Fagnolle, the ruins of the castle are visible in the landscape.

Level of difficulty
A beautiful course that follows the line of ridges (yours). The shorter variant 1 (15 km) leads to the RAVeL from Matagne-la Grande (see map). Variant 2 takes you to Treignes shortly before Ossogne.

Departure
In the village of Fagnole, follow the rising street to Dourbes. In the bend, continue straight.

Signage
Follow the mountain bike signs of the circuit (triangles and blue circles).

In the village of Fagnolle or next to the RAVeL.
