Birds in focus!

Join us for our 6.36 km long walk 'Birds in Focus!' - almost entirely along gentle paths - in the border area of three Scheldt polders (Doel-, Hertogin Hedwige- and Prosperpolder), which form the authentic landscape in a last remnant of the former glory of Saeftinghe. A breathtaking spectacle of wide views, 400 years of dike succession, nature and cultural landscape. You will walk along gentle paths around the recently created nature compensation area Doelpolder-North, designed as a grassland bird area and indeed a true bird paradise! Along our way, we will also glimpse the Paardenschor, the Ouden Doel mudflat, and the Hedwige-Prosper project-in-progress, part of the Groot-Saeftinghe border park. Our advice: don’t forget your binoculars! Our guide is Dirk Draulans! At the chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua, we invite you to a 'Sliertemie', a local drink, and once back in the museum (PolderMAS), a delicious pumpkin soup awaits you. In the museum, you will find everything tangible about the history of the Scheldt polders, various regional products are offered for tasting, and you can calmly conclude what we hope will be a successful day with a drink. The museum opens at 1:30 PM. We start promptly at 2:00 PM. Welcome! :-)
