Abbey pilgrimage 2012 10Mi (from Averbode to Tongerlo)

Abbey Hike 2012 from Averbode to Tongerlo.
This 10-mile hike is organized annually on Ascension Day.
In even years, the start takes place near the abbey of Averbode and the route heads north towards the abbey of Tongerlo. In odd years, the reverse route is taken.

This is the anniversary edition (30 years of the abbey hike), where exceptionally the last kilometer is led through the abbey of Tongerlo.

Large parts of the route are located in the forests between Averbode and Tongerlo. Around Averbode, certain sections are paved for cyclists and also accessible for runners. The number of roads that can be driven on by cars is kept to a minimum.
The unpaved sections were relatively dry (here and there some deep puddles - the sandy soil and the trees help with drainage ... -) and were very well passable. Beautiful route in nature!
