The walk has received an update as the Molenmeerspad is no longer accessible from April 1 to October 31 inclusive and can only be entered with a guide afterwards. The muddy sections that existed are easy to bypass.

Info: The parking lot around the church has become a blue zone, so parking is maximum 2 hours, which is too little for this walk.

And there is a lot of monitoring! (Thanks for the info from a hiker) This does not apply on Sundays and public holidays as well as after 6:00 PM during the week.

For long-term parking, you can park your car in the Hammeken parking lot (behind the church, space for 14 cars according to the municipal data of Merendree).

Apparently, 'Toerisme Vlaanderen' has adopted these walks from Natuurpunt with 2 loops.

A combination of mostly paths from Natuurpunt, paths of the 'Slow Path Network' and other unpaved paths through a blooming meadow and willows. Merendree means something like 'place located at a winding river with meanders'.

Parking at the church and behind the church begins the walk. Natuurpunt has 4 walking routes here with distances of 2.9 km for the Molenmeers walk; 3.9 km for the Vinderhoute walk; 5.6 km for the Merendree walk and 9 km for a combination of green and blue, but one starts in Vinderhoute.
