Meerhout is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality belongs to the electoral canton and the judicial canton of Mol.

The place is located on the Grote Nete. In 742 the place was first mentioned as Maereholt. On November 22, 1798, the battle of Meerhout took place as part of the Boerenkrijg, in which more than 200 brigands were killed.
Within the municipal boundaries are the following residential areas: Meerhout-centrum, Berg, Zittaart and Gestel.

On the border with the municipality of Balen are the small hamlets Lil and Grees near Hulsen.

Beautiful nature walk that runs on more than 90% unpaved roads. One follows the Grote Nete for a while and passes the Monnikerhoeve and the watermill of Meerhout.
