The impressive forest area Ryckevelde has an additional advantage. In addition to the many facilities for cyclists and riders, there is now also a beautiful jogging path. Due to its location on centuries-old sand ridges, the Ryckevelde forest area has not only a special ecological value but also an outstanding recreational value. Both circular routes of this nature walk start at the information panel in the parking lot at Holleweg.

The red loop of 2.3 km passes by the castle park, where a loop is made around the neo-gothic castle and the pond. The path crosses the former railway tracks and follows a serpentine forest path along the edge of the forest a little further to the right, until you return to the starting point.

The green loop of 6.2 km veers left shortly after the start and follows the beautifully wide Rijckeveldestraat. Here, you walk among the pine trees on old land dunes. The forest area includes 15 hectares of pine tree stands. Management is being carried out to transform the originally homogeneous plantations into mixed stands through regular thinning. Then you turn right onto the former railway line Brugge - Eeklo, which has been converted into a walking and cycling path where it's enjoyable to walk. At the beginning of the Alte Dosweg, you turn right. Here, there is a connection to the running route of Sijsele (6.5 km). A little further right, you briefly walk through a young planting and then continue straight on the narrow path. At an open heathland, you turn left and walk along the home garden. This is a nature educational garden specifically designed for the blind and visually impaired. Subsequently, the route turns right and you cross three bridges. A little further on, you can see the castle on your right. You continue your way to the left until you reach the Meersbeek and follow it to the road to St.-Kruis. This historic road is already noted on the maps of Pieter Pourbus (1561-1571) and connected Oedelem with St.-Kruis. Here, the green loop runs briefly together with the red loop, but then turns left into the military area. Once out of the forest, the path veers right and leads you towards the former railway tracks, where you can then turn right. Here, you walk briefly along the particularly valuable Schobbejakshoogte, which hosts some rare plants of dry heath and nutrient-poor sandy soils. It is also a paradise for many insects, such as grasshoppers, butterflies, and beetles. Along this path, there is an interval zone of 700 meters, where you can go full speed. Back at the Margaretha van Flandernlaan, you turn left and continue along with the red loop until you reach the starting point.
