Hiking the Trails of the Geuzen
This day trip takes you along the GR 128 Vlaanderenroute, the regional GR Heuvelland, and the GR 5A hiking circuit of Flanders.
Heuvelland: the name itself suggests that this is a true paradise for hiking and cycling. In the Middle Ages, this region was more densely populated and there was vibrant trade. The decline of the
economy in the second half of the 16th century laid the groundwork for a revolution with religious wars. Together with the Westhoek, the hilly region also suffered greatly during World War I.
The hike will take you, in the footsteps of the forest Geuzen, through a wide valley carved by the Douve between two rows of hills, where you will
be surprised by some stunning views.
